Ping Pong Book Club

Community Group

A Community Group for AAPI by AAPI

In-person bi-weekly meetings at Woodland Pattern in Milwaukee, WI

The Ping Pong Book Club was created during times of social distress to create community. Inviting AAPI people to read together in an environment of solace and nourishment—to connect and share in conversation through literature. My goal is to exchange thoughts, experiences, and feelings among one another, a back-and-forth, like table tennis, or simply ping pong. The reading material focuses on fiction and nonfiction literature specifically by female, BIPOC, and LGBTQIA+ writers, with a focus on art and artist’s writings.

The Ping Pong Book Club had its first meeting on May 25th, 2022 and for the past two years have focused on reading together all year round as well as creative community events. The goal of the community group is to expand their events beyond literature into the visual arts, conducting workshops and visiting artist lectures extending the invitation to the public.

We’re thankful to Woodland Pattern for hosting the Ping Pong Book Club and providing space for us to meet up and nurture our discussion.
